This trip enabled me to challenge myself and tap into my strengths, weaknesses, and reserves within myself that I took for granted.  Although the longer hike was very challenging for me, I felt so accomplished afterward!  Learning archery was so much fun, and I'm actually looking into taking classes here in NYC. I also appreciate Dylan for inspiring me to pull out my guitar and practice again.

Thank you Hazen for talking me into taking a cold plunge after the hot spring.  I got such a feeling of exhilaration and surprisingly enjoyed the experience. The cold plunge on the last day was even more profound, I loved the breathwork and inspiring speech from Hazen before our plunge. I was definitely startled at first but after a minute in the cold water, I felt a deep calmness, I felt centered and at peace. It was a beautiful moment for me and I'm so appreciative.  I highly recommend a trip with them and I look forward to the next adventure with Hazen and Dylan!

Our family has really enjoyed watching Hazen’s shows and Aden in particular seemed the most fascinated by what she saw. I was super intrigued by how indigenous tools, methods, and crafts were incorporated into it all. So both of us were pumped about learning from him.
We thought Hazen’s bushcraft lessons were awesome. I’ll list them here because I think when we actually reflect on how much we did and learned it was pretty remarkable! Lessons in many edible plants,  knot tying, shelter building, figure four trap, knife lesson, wooden spoons (our favorite), gutting a fish, building a raft, art lessons and making a rope out of plants were the big ones. Of course, there were little “mini-teaching moments” that were also very cool.  I thought this was a great balance. Too many more lessons and there may have been some burnout or loss of interest. We were given opportunities to put these lessons to use on our own and Hazen took time with individuals to make sure they understood/got it right.

What a weekend! First of all I want to express my utmost appreciation for everyone's time and effort put into making this event possible. I know firsthand how much work it takes behind the scenes to plan and execute an event of this magnitude.  So let me say it again...thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Secondly, thank you, Hazen, for truly being such a positive role model for my 2 boys.  As you can imagine, navigating the world of parenting, especially in today's day and age, has some unique challenges and it truly takes a village. I think the location setting was great!  Obviously, the fires impacted this but that is beyond anyone's control and can literally happen anywhere in the forest.  I loved the "tribe" vibe that was infused throughout. It was great to get to meet other families and connect through our shared interests.  I think the communication emails that came from Dylan were thorough and answered all of my questions and/or concerns from booking right up to the event.

We thank you again so much for everything!

Still thinking about it?

Hear From others!

Thanks for the wonderful hike! It was so great learning “hands on” from Hazen the expert.

My kids’ favorite parts were learning what plants are edible, the swamp, and seeing the different habitats. The adults loved learning about our native plants and the history of their uses.

Thanks for a memorable Saturday enjoying such a beautiful reserve.
